Chris Jericho Profile
Chris Jericho profile written by Dusty Davis

"Breaking The Code"

One of life's most challenging puzzles is how to become the top superstar in professional wrestling. Well, Chris Jericho had broken that code along time ago and was sent to save us all by the wrestling Gods. Born Christopher Keith Irvine on November 9, 1970 to the New York Rangers own Ted Irvine, Chris was raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada. Following in the footsteps of his father, Irvine hit the ice for a few rounds before going a few rounds in the ring. He also graduated from college with a degree in journalism. After training at Stu Hart's infamous Dungeon in Calgary, Chris went on to make his wrestling debut on October 2, 1990 at the young age of nineteen. He won the Canadian Heavyweight Championship for the first time in January of 1993. From there he went to Mexico and Japan perfecting his craft before crashing into the land of extreme. He made his Extreme Championship Wrestling debut on February 2, 1996 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he gained more than recognition from the American fans by winning the ECW Television title from Pitbull #2 in June of the same year. His title reign was cut short with a loss at the hands of Shane Douglas a month later. The Ayatollah f Rock and Rolla moved on to WCW, where he defeated J.L. in his first match on August 20, 1996. He competed in his first Pay Per View match at Fall Brawl a month later, when he wrestled the late Chris Benoit. Chris Jericho had unprecedented success in World Championship Wrestling, winning the Cruiserweight Championship five times from the likes of Dean Malenko and Rey Mysterio. He also held the Television title from August to the end of November of 1998. Jericho finally came to the pinnacle of sports entertainment on August 9, 1999. The countdown to the new millennium ended with Chris interrupting The People's Champion, The Rock, claiming to be the savior of the WWE. All of the Jerichoholics around the world hung on every word as The Rock and Jericho did what they did best, entertain the millions of fans. Wrestlemania 2000 saw Chris Jericho along with Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit steal the show in a awesome triple threat match. It also gave Jericho the European Championship. A couple of weeks later on Raw Is Jericho, Chris did the unthinkable by pinning Triple H for the WWE Championship. The title was unceremoniously stolen from him by the power Hungary Triple H later on in the show, and was erased from the record books. But we all know the truth. He finally proved all the critics wrong on October 21, 2001 by winning the WCW World title with his victory over The Rock. Then on December 9, he made history by winning both the WCW and WWE Championships, unifying the titles. He beat both The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin in the same night to become the first ever Undisputed World champion. Wrestling fans thought that we had seen the last of our hero in August of 2005, when he lost a Your Fired match to then WWE champ John Cena, then, in November of 2007, we were all mystified by a series of cryptic messages shown on Raw. It proved to be Jericho's second coming, returning to save us all once more. On March 10, 2008 Chris Jericho made history again by winning the WWE Intercontinental championship for a record breaking eight times, when ended Jeff Hardy's reign as champ. He is one of a few grand slam winners, holding the WWE, Intercontinental, Tag Team, and European championships. So to say that Chris Jericho has done it all in sports entertainment would be an understatement. Wrestling is not the only place that Chris Irvine has had success though. He has done TV shows, radio shows, and as the lead singer of the heavy metal band Fozzy, has released three albums. But perhaps above all, his greatest success might be his wife and three children. So what does the future hold for this multi talented athlete? Only time will tell, but one thing is for certain. We will be entertained.
